Original Loki Season 1 Ending Could Still Be Seen in MCU

Avengers: Doomsday writer hinted at a surprising connection to earlier Marvel storylines. The tease suggested that an alternate version of a key moment from Loki Season 1 could resurface in an upcoming project.

Alternate Loki Season 1 ending might just happen in upcoming projects

Michael Waldron hinted that an alternate version of Loki Season 1’s ending might appear in future Marvel projects. During a Reddit AMA for his Hulu series Chad Powers, the Loki creator responded to a fan asking about his scrapped finale concept, saying, “I actually typed out the answer but never say never, especially in the MCU. Maybe one day you’ll get to see it instead of read it.” His response reignited fan curiosity about the unrealized conclusion that preceded the show’s Season 2 continuation.

Before the final cut, the Loki team discussed several possible endings for the first season. The story ends with Sylvie killing He Who Remains and fracturing the Sacred Timeline. In interviews, Waldron confirmed that the writers explored multiple alternate scenarios before settling on that version. His comments sparked curiosity about what might have happened to Loki, Sylvie, and the TVA if a second season had never been made.

With Loki’s second season ending in 2023, Marvel has not confirmed plans for a Season 3. In that finale, Loki became the guardian of the multiverse, overseeing timelines resembling Yggdrasil, the Norse Tree of Life. Waldron’s vague comment suggests that aspects of his unused ending could connect to future MCU stories involving cosmic or multiversal characters.

Waldron also worked on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and contributed ideas for upcoming Avengers scripts. His involvement fuels speculation that Loki’s story could connect to larger arcs featuring Doctor Doom, Galactus, or the Living Tribunal.

Both seasons of Loki are now streaming on Disney+. Waldron created and served as head writer for the series, with Kate Herron directing the first season. The show stars Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, and Jonathan Majors as Loki, Sylvie, and He Who Remains, respectively.
