Tyler Perry Unveils New Netflix Movie, Taraji P. Henson & More Join Cast

Tyler Perry struck a Netflix deal with producer DeVon Franklin to bring faith-based movies to the streaming service. So far, their first movie together was Ruth & Boaz, which followed a hip-hop artist looking to start over in rural Tennessee. But their collaboration is far from over with Perry and Franklin’s next faith-based movie starring Taraji P. Henson and more.

DeVon Franklin and Tyler Perry truly make a great team for constantly incorporating faith into their films. Franklin produces faith-based movies like Miracles From Heaven, Heaven Is For Real, and Breakthrough, all about the power of belief when it seems like all hope is lost.

Tyler Perry has also never shied away from his inclusion of faith, even in his most hilarious works. His first movie, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, had a powerful message about the strength of forgiveness. There was also I Can Do Bad All By Myself, which taught the importance of helping others. As their first collaboration, Ruth & Boaz, debuted at #2 on the Global Top 10 Movies List (English), these two producers bring to Netflix stories of faith and compassion.

What is Tyler Perry’s new movie about?

According to Deadline, Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin are co-producing ‘Tis So Sweet, the true story of Lenore Lindsey. Directed by Tasha Smith, a Chicago bakery owner makes a miraculous discovery that helps her take back lost time, heal old wounds, and find unexpected purpose.

Taraji P. Henson, who’s starred in four of Perry’s movies, will lead again for the upcoming Netflix movie. She also plans to star alongside her frequent director in Why Did I Get Married Again?, a Netflix sequel to 2007’s Why Did I Get Married?

Rapper/actor Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott (a.k.a. Joey Bada$$) is also cast, who appeared in shows like Mr. Robot, Grown-ish, and Power Book III: Raising Kanan.
