Thor 4’s Tessa Thompson wants Valkyrie in a less comedic setting
Tessa Thompson, who has portrayed Valkyrie since Thor: Ragnarok, recently opened up about her hopes for exploring a different side of her character.
In a conversation with Collider’s Perri Nemiroff for Collider Ladies Night, Thompson reflected on her experiences working in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thompson stated that one of the most rewarding aspects of working in the franchise has been the opportunity to act alongside many talented actors. She said, “One of the things that is so cool about getting to play in the MCU is obviously all the incredible actors that you get to act alongside.”
Thompson shared that the tone of each Marvel film offers new possibilities for character exploration. She added that Valkyrie has largely been portrayed in a comedic light so far, but she hopes to see her character in a more serious setting. The actress explained, “So, I feel like I’ve mostly existed in kind of a comedic space with Valkyrie, but I’m curious if I were in a film that felt less comedic, how she would show up in those particular spaces.”
In the same interview, Thompson also shared her interest in teaming up with another Marvel star, Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier. Thompson expressed her admiration for Stan, noting, “I don’t know what his character would bring out in me, necessarily, but I just really love Sebastian.” She mentioned that both of them have long wanted to work together on a project.
