Watch 2 Legendary Horror Movies for Free in Time for Halloween
With Halloween right around the corner, two legendary horror movies can now be streamed for free.
It’s the spooky time of the year, and there’s been no shortage of good horror movies to watch. While there are all kinds of titles to pick from on streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu, Shout! Studios has uploaded two flicks to YouTube that can now be watched completely for free.
What legendary horror movies can be watched for free?
Shout! Studios has made 1968’s Night of the Living Dead and 1990’s The Exorcist III available to watch on their YouTube page.
Directed, photographed, and edited by George A. Romero, Night of the Living Dead is largely credited for popularizing the modern portrayal of zombies (despite the fact that they’re referred to as “ghouls” in the movie) in popular culture. It stars Duane Jones as Ben, Judith O’Dea as Barbra, and Russell Streiner as Johnny.
“A ragtag group of Pennsylvanians barricade themselves in an old farmhouse to remain safe from a bloodthirsty, flesh-eating breed of monsters who are ravaging the East Coast of the United States,” a description of the film reads.
Due to a titling error that was made when the copyright notice was filed, Night of the Living Dead was released into the public domain. This means that it’s not an especially difficult movie to track down, and it’s often seen playing in the background of other films; however, that in no way diminishes its quality or the legacy that it holds.
The Exorcist III, meanwhile, is widely considered to be the best sequel to 1973’s The Exorcist. Directed by William Peter Blatty, it stars George C. Scott as Lieutenant William F. Kinderman, Ed Flanders as Father Joseph Dyer, Jason Miller as Patient X, Scott Wilson as Dr. Temple, and Brad Dourif as James Venamun.
“A police Lieutenant uncovers more than he bargained for as his investigation of a series of murders, which have all the hallmarks of the deceased Gemini serial killer, leads him to question the patients of a psychiatric ward,” the description reads.
