Benedict Cumberbatch’s Hilarious 2025 Comedy Movie Sets Hulu Release Date
Hulu has officially announced the streaming release date for The Roses, Searchlight Pictures‘ newest black comedy led by acclaimed actors Benedict Cumberbatch (The Power of the Dog) and Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter). Since its debut, the movie has received a Popcornmeter rating of 79% on Rotten Tomatoes.
“In the film, life seems easy for picture-perfect couple Ivy (Colman) and Theo (Cumberbatch): successful careers, a loving marriage, great kids. But beneath the façade of their supposed ideal life, a storm is brewing – as Theo’s career nosedives while Ivy’s own ambitions take off, a tinderbox of fierce competition and hidden resentment ignites,” reads the official synopsis.
When is the Hulu release date for Benedict Cumberbatch’s The Roses?
Following its digital release on October 21, The Roses is now scheduled to start streaming on November 20, exclusively on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+. Afterward, the movie will also be available for purchase on Blu-ray and DVD on November 25. It is described as a reimagining of Danny DeVito’s classic 1989 film The War of the Roses, which was led by Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner.
Jay Roach (Austin Powers, Meet the Parents) directed the movie from a screenplay written by Tony McNamara, based on Warren Adler’s 1981 novel The War of the Roses. The ensemble cast also includes Andy Samberg, Kate McKinnon, Allison Janney, Ncuti Gatwa, Zoë Chao, Sunita Mani, Hala Finley, Wells Rappaport, Akie Kotabe, and more. It was executive-produced by Cumberbatch, Colman, Jonathan R. Adler, Michael Adler, Cáit Collins, and Katherine Pomfret.
