Julia Roberts’ Massive Pay for New Movie That Bombed Revealed
Following After the Hunt‘s underwhelming box office performance, Academy Award winner Julia Roberts‘ salary for the Luca Guadagnino-led drama was revealed in a new report discussing the box office fallout of recently released adult upscale movies.
The college-set psychological thriller movie only earned a total gross of 6 million at the box office against a reported budget of around $70-80 million. Besides its disappointing theatrical run, it also didn’t perform well among critics and audiences alike. Since its world premiere at the 2025 Venice International Festival, the movie has received a Tomatometer rating of 38% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 193 reviews.
How much was Julia Roberts’ salary for After the Hunt?
According to Deadline, Roberts was reportedly paid a $20 million salary for her role as Alma Imhoff, who is described as a well-liked professor at Yale University. In the movie, her character gets caught in the middle of a scandal concerning her star student and close colleague. Roberts will next be seen in a brand new thriller movie, Panic Carefully, with Elizabeth Olsen and Eddie Redmayne.
“The film is a gripping psychological drama about a college professor who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star student levels an accusation against one of her colleagues, and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come into the light,” reads the official synopsis.
Guadagnino directed After the Hunt from a screenplay written by Nora Garrett. The ensemble cast also included Andrew Garfield, Ayo Edebiri, Michael Stuhlbarg, Chloë Sevigny, Lío Mehiel, Thaddea Graham, Ariyan Kassam, Will Price, Christine Dye, and Burgess Byrd. It was executive produced by Garrett, Karen Lunder, Justin Wilkes, and Alice Dawson, with Guadagnino, Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum serving as producers.
