Batman’s DCU Movie Gets Exciting Update from The Flash Director

Some major updates regarding the Batman DCU movie, The Brave and the Bold, will likely be coming in the not-too-distant future.

Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios’ The Brave and the Bold is being directed by Andy Muschietti, who previously made 2023’s The Flash. The project was initially announced in 2023, shortly after James Gunn and Peter Safran became co-CEOs and co-chairmen of DC Studios; however, there haven’t been many significant updates or announcements regarding The Brave and the Bold since then.

Gunn has reassured fans that the movie is still happening, with the latest update from Emergency Awesome being that the story has changed “a lot” since it was initially announced. There’s been plenty of speculation that Matt Reeves’ The Batman Epic Crime Saga could merge with the DCU, meaning that Robert Pattinson would be playing the shared universe’s Dark Knight, but that does not seem to be the case.

What did Andy Muschietti say about Batman and The Brave and the Bold?

Speaking with Variety, Muschietti and his frequent collaborator/sister, Barbara Muschietti, confirmed that Andy is still directing the movie, while they also hinted it might not be long before there are some major things announced about the project.

“The intention is yes, but we can’t talk about it,” Barbara said when asked if The Brave and the Bold was still happening.

“We have to wait a few, a couple of months to start talking about it,” Andy added before realizing he might have said too much information. “I screwed it already.”

No casting information for The Brave and the Bold is available at this time, and fans will have to wait to see if the live-action Batman makes his official DCU debut in another project, such as 2026’s Clayface, before that. The film does not yet have a release date.
