Yakuza Thriller Movie Tatsumi Gets Trailer & Release Date | Exclusive

ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive trailer for the upcoming U.S. release of Tatsumi, a Japanese crime thriller drama from filmmaker Hiroshi Shôji. Before its digital release, the movie had previously received Best Film nominations at the Bucheon Int’l Fantastic Film Festival and Tokyo International Film Festival.

“Tatsumi, an unassuming fisherman, makes his real livelihood by cleaning up dead bodies for local yakuza gangs,” reads the official synopsis. “When criminal intrigue leads to the vicious murder of his ex-girlfriend by one of the gangsters, it thrusts her hot-headed teenage sister Aoi (a tour de force by ingénue Kokoro Morita) onto an unbridled path of vengeance. With his own personal motives in tow, Tatsumi vows to mentor and protect Aoi to the bitter end of her blood-soaked crusade.”

When is the release date for Tatsumi?

Tatsumi will be available to rent or own on digital platforms, starting on November 14, 2025. The movie stars Yuya Endo as Tatsumi, Kokoro Morita as Aoi, Goro Sato as Aniki, Takenori Goto as Goto, Tomoyuki Kuramoto as Ryuji Sawamura, Ryô Matsumoto as Takeshi Sawamura, and more.

Hiroshi Shôji wrote and directed the blood-soaked yakuza thriller, which is being described as gritty, mean, and intense from the get-go. The movie is produced by Hiroshi Shôji and Noboru Suzuki, with Shûhei Yamamoto serving as its cinematographer. The creative team also consists of editor Tatsuma Furukawa, along with composer Yuji Iwamoto. It holds a total runtime of 108 minutes, and is a production by Omnibus Entertainment.
