Next Batman Movie to Feature Bane & Multiple DC Villains

Bane is officially making his return as the main villain in DC’s upcoming animated film Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall. The movie marks the beginning of a four-part adaptation of the iconic Knightfall comic storyline. Set for release in 2026, the project marks the beginning of a new animated saga outside the main DC Universe.

Bane confirmed as the villain for Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall 

DC has officially revealed new details about its upcoming animated feature Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall, confirming that Bane will serve as the film’s primary villain. The first installment in a newly announced four-part animated adaptation of the iconic Knightfall comic is set for release in 2026 (via Screen Rant). 

According to the official synopsis, the story follows Batman as he faces one of his greatest challenge yet. It reads, “When the mysterious behemoth known only as Bane frees Batman’s entire Rogue’s Gallery from Arkham Asylum, the Caped Crusader is pushed to his mental and physical breaking point.”

The upcoming film is directed by Jeff Wamester, known for his work on Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths and several other projects within DC’s animated Tomorrowverse. As of now, DC has not yet revealed the voice cast. However, the film’s synopsis suggests that several iconic villains from Gotham’s underworld will make appearances as part of Bane’s ruthless plan.

The Knightfall storyline is widely regarded as one of the most iconic moments in Batman’s comic book legacy. It chronicles Batman’s devastating defeat at the hands of Bane. The arc also follows Bruce Wayne’s long road to recovery and Azrael’s temporary rise as Gotham’s new protector. While aspects of Knightfall inspired Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises (2012), this will be the first direct adaptation of the original comic narrative.

The film marks the beginning of a new Batman saga that will exist outside James Gunn’s DC Universe canon. It follows the success of Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires in 2025.
