Avengers: Doomsday’s Scale, Dramatic Tone Teased by Channing Tatum
Channing Tatum has shared some new insights about Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday has wrapped production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the movie will be released next year. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, then follows in 2027.
What did Channing Tatum say about Avengers: Doomsday?
Tatum will reprise his role as Remy LeBeau/Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday after he debuted as the character in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine. Speaking with People, Tatum teased the “sheer scale” of the movie and said that, while the Russos “really set themselves up for a really hard bar to hit” following their previous MCU entries, he believes this will deliver what fans want.
“Every single movie that they make is the next one has to top it. When I read the script, I was just like, ‘What?!’ I don’t think anybody’s really going to understand how they did this. It’s going to melt everybody’s brain all over again,” Tatum said.
Regarding the tone of Avengers: Doomsday, Tatum said that the Russos “love their comedy and that’s always going to be in there as well.” Despite that, Tatum says that it’s still “definitely going to be a dramatic movie.”
Addressing how Avengers: Doomsday will handle Gambit’s Cajun accent, Tatum explained, “I have to interpret what I need to get across in the scene. And I got to make sure that, ‘Is this line for a joke, and can I really Cajun this one up? Or is this line for plot, and do I need to be really clear but still in a Cajun accent? It’s always a bit of a push and pull.”
Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday will be released on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars then arriving on December 17, 2027. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released before both of those movies, as that currently has a July 31, 2026, release date.
