Reeves and Winter are currently starring together in Waiting for Godot on Broadway. The play opened last month and is scheduled to close in January 2026.
Reeves and Winter are best known for their collaboration in the Bill and Ted series. While speaking with Variety to promote the play, the duo shared a positive response when asked if they would reunite for Bill and Ted 4.
“Yes and yes,” Reeves said.
In 1989, Reeves and Winter starred in the sci-fi buddy comedy Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Bill S. Preston (Winter) and Ted Logan (Reeves) are simple-minded high school friends and bandmates. The duo is in danger of failing history class, which would result in Ted’s enrollment in military school.
Unbeknownst to Bill and Ted, passing this history class is important for society’s future. Rufus (George Carlin), a citizen from the future, arrives in a time-traveling phone booth and plans to help the boys pass the class. The trio heads to pivotal points in history to borrow important figures for their presentation.
Directed by Stephen Herek, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure received positive reviews and grossed $40.5 million worldwide. Two years later, Reeves and Winter reprised their roles in Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. The sequel grossed less than its predecessor — $38 million — and garnered mixed reviews. Both films have become cult classics.
Nearly 30 years later, the comedic duo reunited for 2020’s Bill & Ted Face the Music. In the third film, Bill and Ted must write a song to save humanity. The film also starred Kristen Schaal, Samara Weaving, Jack Haven, Anthony Carrigan, Erinn Hayes, Jayma Mays, Holland Taylor, Kid Cudi, William Sadler, and Jillian Bell.
Bill & Ted Face the Music was released during the COVID-19 pandemic, so it only grossed $6.3 million worldwide.
