Kevin James & Alan Ritchson Action Movie Playdate Gets Release Date & Photos

Amazon MGM Studios has announced the Prime Video release date for Playdate, the upcoming action comedy led by Kevin James (Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Grown-Ups) and Alan Ritchson (Reacher, Fast X). In addition, the studio has also shared the movie’s official photos, providing the audience with the first look at James and Ritchson’s characters, Brian and Jeff.

When is the release date for Playdate?

Playdate will be available for streaming starting on November 12, 2025, exclusively on Prime Video. The action comedy movie also stars Sarah Chalke as Emily, Alan Tudyk as Simon, Benjamin Pajak as Lucas, Banks Pierce as CJ, and Hiro Kanagawa as Colonel Kurtz, with Stephen Root as Gordon and Isla Fisher as Leslie.

The movie is directed by Luke Greenfield from a screenplay written by Neil Goldman. In addition to starring, Ritchson is also serving as an executive producer alongside Dan Spilo, Neil Goldman, Michelle Meyers, Alexis Garcia, Matthew Goldberg, Lee Broda, and Jamal Sannon. It is produced by Greenfield, Jason Benoit, Sean Patrick O’Reilly, Mark Fasano, and Jeffrey Greenstein. The film currently has a total running time of 93 minutes or an hour and 33 minutes.

“When recently unemployed accountant Brian agrees to a playdate with charismatic stay-at-home dad Jeff and their sons, he expects an easy afternoon of small talk and football tossing,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “Instead, he’s thrust into a chaotic scramble to stay alive as they are pursued by a ruthless team of mercenaries. Brian stumbles through one ridiculous obstacle after another, his zero tactical skills a stark contrast to Jeff’s oddly prepared demeanor. Director Luke Greenfield hilariously collides suburban dad life with high-stakes thrills, transforming an ordinary afternoon into an absurd action-packed adventure where minivan mayhem meets professional hitmen.”
