New DCU TV Show & Movies Teased by James Gunn

James Gunn has shared an update about the future of the DCU.

Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU at Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios officially kicked off in 2024 with the animated Creature Commandos series. That was followed by Gunn’s Superman movie, which was released in July 2025, and Peacemaker Season 2, which premiered in August 2025 and will conclude later this month.

Following that, Supergirl, Lanterns, and Clayface are all expected to arrive in 2026, while the only other DCU project with a firm release date at this time is Gunn’s Superman follow-up, titled Man of Tomorrow, which arrives in 2027.

What did James Gunn say about the future of the DCU?

Speaking with GQ Magazine, Gunn was asked for any additional updates about the DCU’s slate beyond things that have already been announced.

“Right now, there’s actually two really cool film scripts that I’m hoping to take to the next level that we have general plans for, and I’m excited about both of those,” he said. “And then I’m excited about one TV project in particular. I don’t know why we’re not greenlighted on that already—it’s just figuring out the budget. So there’s a couple of things that are very present that I’m excited about. Dealing with getting Supergirl into shape, all these other things.

“Watching episodes of Lanterns—that’s coming along well. So, it’s really just dealing a little bit with everything and then mostly Man of Tomorrow. That’s the biggest thing for me. I mean, we go into production in April, so it may seem like far away to you, but to me, it seems awful close.”

Previously announced DCU movies include The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, Wonder Woman, Swamp Thing, and more, while it is also known that Booster Gold, Waller, and Paradise Lost, among other titles, are currently in the works as DC television shows.
