Popular Tyler Perry Movie Gets Sequel, Taraji P. Henson & 14 More Join Cast

A popular Tyler Perry movie is getting another sequel.

Why Did I Get Married? was released in 2007. Written, directed, and starring Tyler Perry, the cast of the movie also includes Sharon Leal as Dianne Brock, Malik Yoba as Gavin Agnew, Janet Jackson as Dr. Patricia Agnew, Michael Jai White as Marcus Williams, and Tasha Smith as Angela Williams.

That movie — which made approximately $55.9 million at the global box office off an estimated $15 million budget — was followed by a sequel, titled Why Did I Get Married Too?, in 2010.

Per Deadline, a third Why Did I Get Married? movie, titled Why Did I Get Married Again?, is now in the works at Netflix. It will see Perry once again return to direct, write, star, and produce.

In addition to Perry, Why Did I Get Married Again? stars Taraji P. Henson, Jill Scott, Richard T. Jones, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Lamman Rucker, Sharon Leal, Armani Greer, Everett Osborne, Da’Vinchi, Laya Deleon Hayes, Jaden Michael, Charles L. Smith, Derrick A. King, and Sydney Winbush.

“In the sequel, the couples reunite in celebration as Marcus (White) and Angela’s (Smith) daughter prepares to tie the knot,” Deadline’s article states. “After being apart for quite some time, they learn quickly that as much as things change, they stay the same. Realizing their children have grown up to be so much like them, they must reflect on the examples they’ve set and ask themselves that age-old question, why did they get married… again?”

Angi Bones and Tony Strickland serve as producers on the movie alongside Perry. A release date for Why Did I Get Married Again? has not yet been set. Both Why Did I Get Married? and Why Did I Get Married Too? are both available to stream on Starz at this time.
