Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley Fights Zombies in We Bury the Dead Teaser Trailer

Vertical has shared a teaser trailer for We Bury the Dead, the upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller led by Star Wars vet Daisy Ridley. The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on January 2, 2026.

“After a catastrophic American military experiment, resulting in mass casualties across Tasmania. Ava (Ridley) joins a body retrieval unit to help identify the dead and search for her husband in the southern part of the island,” reads the official synopsis. “As Ava makes her way south, across the ravaged landscape, she soon learns that some of the victims of the disaster are coming back to life.”

Who is involved in We Bury the Dead?

We Bury the Dead is written and directed by Australian filmmaker Zak Hilditch. Joining Ridley in the zombie movie are Brenton Thwaites (Titans), Mark Coles Smith (Mystery Road: Origin), Matt Whelan (Narcos), Chloe Hurst (Andi Mack), Kym Jackson (Eat Brains Love), and more. Since its world premiere at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival, the movie has received a Tomatometer rating of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 19 reviews.

The film is produced by Kelvin Munro, Grant Sputore, Ross M. Dinerstein, Joshua Harris, and Mark Fasano. Executive producers are Nathan Klingher, Ford Corbett, D.J.
