David Corenswet’s Superman Wouldn’t Beat Hulk, Says Mark Ruffalo

Marvel star Mark Ruffalo has shared his thoughts on superhero matchups during a recent interview. He weighed in on Hulk’s strength compared to Superman, spoke about Red Hulk’s debut, and reflected on the future of Marvel’s expanding universe.

Mark Ruffalo thinks Hulk would win against Superman and Red Hulk

Mark Ruffalo recently addressed a fan-favorite debate during his appearance on We’re Not Kidding with Mehdi Hasan. When asked who would win in a fight between Superman and the Hulk, Ruffalo quickly answered, “Hulk.”

He was then asked about the Red Hulk, played by Harrison Ford in Captain America: Brave New World, and replied, “No one beats the Hulk. Not even the Red Hulk.” Ruffalo also emphasized his admiration for Ford.

Harrison Ford previously responded to a similar question in an interview with Jake Hamilton about his role as Red Hulk. When asked whether Red Hulk could defeat Ruffalo’s Hulk, Ford dismissed the debate by comparing it to the long-standing Star Wars “Who shot first?” discussion. His nonchalant answer highlighted his lack of investment in hypothetical matchups, as he joked, “The answer is Greedo.”

Ruffalo has played the Hulk since his debut in The Avengers (2012). Over time, he became the definitive version of Bruce Banner in the MCU. Ford’s Red Hulk made his debut in Captain America: Brave New World, which was released on February 14, 2025.

He took over from the late William Hurt, who first portrayed Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. Ruffalo acknowledged Ford’s arrival in the franchise but insisted his Hulk would remain unbeatable in any crossover fight.

The exchange highlights growing fan interest in the MCU’s Hulk storyline. Viewers now expect multiple versions of the character to appear on screen. Ruffalo’s bold claim of Hulk’s supremacy contrasts with Ford’s humorous dismissal of the debate. Together, their comments show how differently the two actors engage with Marvel’s ongoing fan discussions.
