The Social Network 2 Adds Famous Stand-Up Comedian to Cast of Sequel Movie
A well-known stand-up comedian has joined the cast of The Social Network 2.
Released in 2010, The Social Network is a drama movie about the creation of Facebook that is directed by David Fincher and written by Aaron Sorkin. Based on the 2009 novel The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich, it stars Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg, Andrew Garfield as Eduardo Saverin, and Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker.
The Social Network 2, also known as The Social Network Part II, was announced to be officially in the works at Sony Pictures earlier this year. Sorkin is writing and directing the sequel, which is expected to begin filming later this year in Vancouver.
Who has joined the cast of The Social Network 2?
Bill Burr has joined the cast of The Social Network 2, per The Hollywood Reporter. He is “said to be playing a character that is fictional or an amalgamation, according to sources.”
Further details beyond that about Burr’s role remain under wraps at this time.
While best known for his stand-up comedy, Burr has starred in movies such as 2010’s Date Night, 2013’s The Heat, 2020’s The King of Staten Island, 2020’s Dog, 2024’s Unfrosted, and more. He has also been in numerous television shows, including Breaking Bad, New Girl, The Mandalorian, and Barry. Burr co-created Netflix’s F Is for Family animated sitcom and made his feature-length directorial debut in 2023 with Old Dads.
The cast of The Social Network 2 also includes Jeremy Allen White as Jeff Horwitz, Mikey Madison as Frances Haugen, and Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg.
“The story of the new feature will focus on how the company’s own reporting pointed to the negative effects the company’s social media was having on teens and kids, how it knew misinformation was proliferating and causing violence, and how it contributed to the violent insurrection of Jan. 6, 2021,” The Hollywood Reporter’s article states.
A release date for The Social Network 2 has not been announced.
