
Spaceballs 2 Gets Huge Filming Update as Superman Actor Joins Cast
Spaceballs 2 has received a huge filming update.
It was announced a little over a year ago that Spaceballs 2 was officially happening at Amazon MGM Studios. A sequel to 1987’s Spaceballs, the new movie is being directed by Josh Greenbaum, while the script comes from Josh Gad, Benji Samit, and Dan Hernandez.

Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, and Mel Brooks will reprise their respective roles as Lord Dark Helmet, Lone Starr, Princess Vespa, and Yogurt/President Skroob, while the previously announced cast also includes Gad, Keke Palmer, and Lewis Pullman.
It has now been announced that George Wyner, who played Colonel Sandurz in the original movie, is also returning, while Anthony Carrigan has additionally joined the cast.
Carrigan recently played Rex Mason/Metamorpho in James Gunn’s Superman movie, while he’s also recognized for playing NoHo Hank alongside Bill Hader in HBO’s Barry. He’s also been in television shows such as The Forgotten, Parenthood, The Flash, Gotham, and Twisted Metal, while his filmography includes 2016’s The Satanic, 2020’s Bill & Ted Face the Music, 2025’s Death of a Unicorn, and more.

Greenbaum — whose previous filmography includes 2021’s Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, 2023’s Strays, and 2024’s Will & Harper — serves as a producer alongside Brooks, Gad serve Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Jeb Brody, and Kevin Salter. Samit, Hernandez, and Adam Merims serve as executive producers.
Spaceballs 2 will be released in United States theaters in 2027. The first Spaceballs movie, meanwhile, is available to stream on HBO Max at this time.
