Man of Tomorrow Photo Hints at Who DCU Movie’s Villain Could Be

James Gunn has shared an image of the Man of Tomorrow script.

Man of Tomorrow is a forthcoming DCU movie written by Gunn. Serving as a follow-up to 2025’s Superman, the movie is currently scheduled to be released in United States theaters in July 2027 from Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios.

What picture did James Gunn share for Man of Tomorrow?

On Twitter, Gunn shared a picture of Man of Tomorrow’s script, which notably has the image of an X-ray of someone’s head on it. View it below:

Given that the person’s non-human brain is visible in the image, many have taken this as a sign that Brainiac will be the main antagonist in Man of Tomorrow.

Brainiac’s presence in the new DCU movie has not been officially confirmed by Gunn at this time; however, it’s been speculated that the Otto Binder and Al Plastino-created character will play into the story ever since it was announced that Man of Tomorrow will see Superman and Lex Luthor work together in some capacity to defeat a greater threat.

David Corenswet reprises his role as Superman in Man of Tomorrow, while Nicholas Hoult is also returning as Lex Luthor. Further casting details have not yet been announced.

Man of Tomorrow arrives on July 9, 2027.

Superman, meanwhile, is now available to stream on HBO Max. The cast of that movie further includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl.

“Superman, DC Studios’ first feature film to hit the big screen, is set to soar into theaters worldwide this summer from Warner Bros. Pictures,” the official synopsis reads. “In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor, and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.”
