The Mandalorian and Grogu’s Pulpy Logo & Poster Splits Fans

After six years, Lucasfilm has begun marketing a new Star Wars movie. Unfortunately, the upcoming feature, The Mandalorian and Grogu, has already divided the fandom with its logo and poster.

Earlier today, Lucasfilm dropped the first trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu. The studio also released the logo and poster for the Star Wars movie, which revealed a pulpy aesthetic that has split the Star Wars fandom in half. Many fans have voiced their approval or displeasure with the logo and poster on social media platforms like X or the Reddit forums, with some feeling that it’s an appropriate look for the movie while others note that the poster looks fan-made.

There are even a few who claim that they don’t mind Star Wars leaning into the pulp era, but that the poster just looks terrible. Some also believe the poster artwork is meant to harken back to Flash Gordon, who has been labeled a pulp hero and whose stories were a major inspiration for George Lucas when creating the original Star Wars movie.

Check out the first poster for The Mandalorian and Grogu, as well as some online reactions, below:

“The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu (as himself),” reads a logline for The Mandalorian and Grogu (via StarWars.com).

Jon Favreau, who created The Mandalorian, returns to direct the Disney+ series’ feature-length continuation, working from a screenplay he co-wrote with Dave Filoni. Pedro Pascal leads a star-studded ensemble cast that includes Sigourney Weaver as Ward, Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt, and Jonny Coyne as an Imperial Warlord. Zeb Orrelios from Star Wars Rebels will also appear, although it’s unconfirmed at this time whether Steve Blum will return to voice the character in The Mandalorian and Grogu.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is scheduled to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.
