Tron: Ares Box Office Predictions Revealed for Jared Leto Movie

The first box office predictions for Tron: Ares’ opening weekend have arrived.

Tron: Ares hits United States theaters next month. Directed by Joachim Rønning, the Tron and Tron: Legacy sequel movie stars Jared Leto as Ares, Greta Lee as Eve Kim, Evan Peters as Julian Dillinger, Jodie Toruner-Smith as Athena, Gillian Anderson as Elisabeth Dillinger, and Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn.

How much is Tron: Ares expected to make opening weekend at the box office?

According to Deadline, Tron: Ares is currently estimated to make around $44 million domestically during its opening weekend.

It’s unclear how large a budget Tron: Ares has, though predictions online range anywhere from $150 million to $200+ million. While a $44 million opening isn’t exactly huge, that’s roughly how much Tron: Legacy made when it was released in 2010, and that movie ended its global run with $409.9 million.

“Of late on tracking, IMAX-fueled tentpoles like F1, Conjuring: Last Rites, and Weapons, have seen their actual box office dollars leaving their forecasts in the dust,” Deadline’s article notes.

Audience and critics’ reception toward Tron: Ares will likely be key to how much money it makes. The film doesn’t have much direct competition when it comes to big sci-fi blockbusters, as The Black Phone 2 and Good Fortune come out the following week, and Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere the week after that. If the word of mouth is good, Tron: Ares could hang around the number one spot at the box office until Predator: Badlands comes out in early November.

The synopsis for the movie reads, “Tron: Ares follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.”

Tron: releases in United States theaters on October 10, 2025, from Walt Disney Pictures.
