
HBO Max Gets Redesign as Superman Arrives on Streaming Service
In celebration of Superman‘s streaming debut on HBO Max, Warner Bros. is giving the streaming platform new features based on James Gunn‘s first DC Universe movie. During its theatrical run, the movie earned a worldwide gross of over $615 million at the box office.
What is included in the HBO Max Superman redesign?
HBO Max will feature an in-app Superman takeover offering viewers a transformed homepage and unique user experience. During this time, subscribers will be able to see and interact with the new features.
Listed below are the three new Superman-themed features for HBO Max:
- Daily Planet Homepage takeover will feature a refreshed art, style, and specially designed content rails.

- It will also include a fan-focused The Fortress of Solitude page with themed curations.

- There will also be hidden portals throughout the homepage that transport users to Lex Luthor’s Pocket Prison.

Superman was written and directed by Gunn, based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The movie stars David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Anthony Carrigan as Metarmorpho, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Edi Gathegi, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, and Neva Howell as Martha Kent, along with Alan Tudyk, Michael Rooker, and Grace Chan.
“When Superman is drawn into conflicts both abroad and at home, his actions to protect humankind are questioned, and his vulnerability allows tech billionaire and master deceiver Lex Luthor to leverage the opportunity to get Superman out of the way for good,|” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “Will the Daily Planet’s intrepid reporter Lois Lane, together with the aid of Metropolis’s other metahumans and Superman’s own four-legged companion, Krypto, be able to help Superman before Luthor can completely destroy him?”
Superman will be available for streaming on Friday, September 19, on HBO Max. This will then be followed by its broadcast debut on Saturday, September 20, on HBO.
