Smurfs Paramount+ Release Date Set for Rihanna Movie’s Streaming Debut

Paramount Animation has announced the Smurfs Paramount+ release date for the upcoming streaming debut of the musical fantasy comedy, which served as a reboot of The Smurfs film franchise. The movie currently holds a Popcornmeter score of 64% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is higher than the Audience ratings than previous Smurfs movies had received.

“In the film, Smurfette leads the crew on a daring rescue mission to save Papa Smurf after he is mysteriously kidnapped by the evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel. The Smurfs team up with new friends on an epic adventure that takes them into the real world, where they discover that their true destiny is to save the universe,” reads the official synopsis.

When is the Smurfs Paramount+ release date?

Smurfs will be available for streaming starting on Tuesday, September 16, exclusively on Paramount+. The movie features the voices of Rihanna as Smurfette, James Corden as No Name Smurf, Nick Offerman as Ken, JP Karliak as Gargamel, Daniel Levy as Joel, Amy Sedaris as Jaunty, Natasha Lyonne as Mama Poot, Sandra Oh as Moxie Smurf, Jimmy Kimmel as Tardigrade, Octavia Spencer as Asmodius, Nick Kroll as Chernobog, Hannah Waddingham as Jezebeth, Alex Winter as Hefty Smurf, Maya Erskine as Vanity Smurf, Kurt Russell as Ron, and John Goodman as Papa Smurf.

The Smurfs movie was directed by Chris Miller from a screenplay written by Pam Brady, based on the characters and works of Peyo. In addition to starring, Rihanna was also serving as a producer alongside Jay Brown, Ty Ty Smith, and Ryan Harris. It was executive-produced by Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary. During its theatrical run, the movie earned a worldwide gross of over $117 million at the box office.
