Don’t Expect Tim Burton To Make Another Superhero Movie

After Neary four decades since directing Batman and Batman Returns, visionary filmmaker Tim Burton has shared his thoughts on modern superhero movies. This comes after Burton recently reunited with Batman actor Michael Keaton for the long-awaited Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sequel.

What did Tim Burton say about superhero movies?

During a recent interview with Konbini, Burton was asked if he’s still watching modern superhero movies. The acclaimed director confirmed that he has actually lost interest in the genre after 1992’s Batman Returns, especially when the studio didn’t wanted him to return for a third installment.

“Not really, No, I think I lost interest maybe after Batman returns. You know, I felt very happy doing Batman because it felt new to me at the time,” he shared. “You know, it was not really something that would been down, So, it was quite exciting to be involved with that, and kind of feel like it was new territory. But then after Batman Returns, they didn’t want to do another one, and this I think I sort of lost interest in the whole sort of genre really. I mean, so I’ve seen a few, but I don’t really know.”

Besides the Beetlejuice sequel, Burton’s most recent project is returning as a director and executive producer on Wednesday Season 2, which just released its first four episodes. The hit Netflix show has already been renewed for a third season. At the moment, he’s currently attached to direct and produce a remake of the Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman for Warner Bros. Pictures.
