Spider-Man 4 Set Photo Has MCU Fans Theorizing About Villains
A new Spider-Man 4 set photo is causing some debate among MCU fans.
Spider-Man 4, also known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is currently in production. The Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures movie is directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Destin Daniel Cretton and will see Tom Holland reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
What are MCU fans saying about the Spider-Man 4 set photo?
Amid a flurry of Spider-Man 4 set photos that have emerged online since the movie started filming, a new one has now been shared by scooper MyTimeToShineHello. The image is a symbol that has been spotted on the tank that has already appeared in numerous videos and pictures.

Many MCU fans are wondering what this symbol could be alluding to and are questioning if it may be hinting at the presence of an unannounced villain in the movie, potentially El Jaguar or Puma.
Another name that has frequently come up in the comments is Thundercats; however, this is extremely unlikely (if not flat-out impossible). While Thundercats was originally published under Marvel’s Star Comics imprint in the 1980s, DC later acquired the rights and published new titles under its Wildstorm imprint. Dynamite Entertainment then acquired the license to make new Thundercats comics in October 2023.
The cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day also includes Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, and Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, the latter of whom hasn’t been seen in the MCU since 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Additionally, The Bear’s Liza Colón-Zayas and Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink have both been cast in undisclosed roles.
Spider-Man 4 will be released in United States theaters on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
