
Rihanna Reveals Why She Loves Natasha Lyonne in Exclusive Smurfs Clip
ComingSoon is excited to debut an exclusive Smurfs clip from the special features of the film’s digital release, which is out today. The video features Rihanna, who plays Smurfette in the film, praising Natasha Lyonne’s performance as Mama Poot. Featuring a star-studded cast, the family movie is now available to own.
“Smurfette (Rihanna) leads the crew on a daring rescue mission to save Papa Smurf (John Goodman) after he is mysteriously kidnapped by the evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel. The Smurfs team up with new friends on an epic adventure that takes them into the real world, where they discover that their true destiny is to save the universe,” says the synopsis.

What happens during the exclusive Smurfs clip?
“I love Mama Poot. I’m a fan of Natasha Lyonne. Her voice is made for animation,” says Rihanna of the film during the clip. Lyonne also explains that she discovered who the character was inside the booth with director Chris Miller. “Chris is doing this beautiful job of creating a space wherein you don’t feel like a real wackadoo going there,” Lyonne said.
The Smurfs movie is directed by Chris Miller from a screenplay written by Pam Brady. The ensemble cast also includes James Corden, Nick Offerman, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Sandra Oh, Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña, and Marshmello, with Kurt Russell and John Goodman. In addition to starring, Rihanna is also set as a producer alongside Jay Brown, Ty Ty Smith, and Ryan Harris. It is executive produced by Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary.
The Smurfs digital release will feature over 35 minutes of bonus content, including the following:
