The Pickup’s Keke Palmer Describes Filming Steamy Scenes With Pete Davidson

Keke Palmer has opened up about her experience filming The Pickup alongside Pete Davidson and Eddie Murphy. In a new interview, the actress reflected on her on-screen chemistry with Davidson, the comfort level during their flirty scenes, and the excitement of working with a comedy legend like Murphy.

Keke Palmer was very comfortable filming The Pickup’s flirty scenes

Keke Palmer told Entertainment Weekly she felt “comfortable” filming intimate scenes with Pete Davidson in The Pickup, noting, “First of all, he’s so sweet, so it was comfortable even though we were being all naked and stuff like that.” She added that the scenes took place “in the first week of shooting — I think it might’ve been the second day or so,” and both of them were excited to work with Eddie Murphy on set.

Speaking about their onscreen dynamic, Palmer stated, “I honestly think he and I have chemistry. Look, I don’t know anybody that Pete don’t have chemistry with. I mean, he’s pretty well-liked in the female world.” She said their connection stemmed from past collaboration and noted, “We did a project together before — a podcast for Lorne Michaels on Audible… and we had chemistry there, even just with our voices.”

Palmer plays Zoe, a thief who seduces Davidson’s character, Travis, to carry out a casino heist. Describing their scenes, she said, “We are two people that don’t really take ourselves seriously… That made it fun for us to play with, to lean into that kind of awkward romance.” She also shared that the romantic tone leaned more toward “humorous romance,” which she felt was refreshing.

On working with Eddie Murphy, Palmer said she viewed him as the “wise sage” on set. She recalled his praise during the press and stated, “He said that I reminded him of him… that really touched me.” She also noted how watching Murphy’s improv informed her approach to One of Them Days, adding that his honesty and rhythm in comedy left a lasting impact.

The Pickup, now streaming on Prime Video, stars Palmer, Davidson, and Murphy in a heist-comedy directed by Tim Story.
