Why Jurassic World Rebirth Changed T-Rex’s Look From Past Movies | Exclusive

ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive look at one of the behind-the-scenes featurettes from the upcoming home release of Jurassic World Rebirth, available now on digital from participating retailers.

How did Jurassic World Rebirth change the T-Rex’s look?

In the clip, which comes from the behind-the-scenes featurette “Hatching a New Era” found on the film’s home release, Visual Effects Supervisor and 2nd Unit Director David Vickery explains some of the changes. Due to the T-Rex not being the same one found in the other “Jurassic” films, the iconic dinosaur was simplified a bit.

According to Gareth Edwards, the T-Rex found in Jurassic World Rebirth has some more scales around its teeth and has some more “simplistic” looks, to mirror that of how scientists believe T-Rex’s actually looked. The featurette also explores how they pulled off the scene of the T-Rex chasing a group through a river.

Check out the exclusive Jurassic World Rebirth clip below:

“A new era is born. A covert extraction team races to the most dangerous place on Earth, an island research facility where dinosaurs too deadly for the original Jurassic Park were left behind,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Their mission: collect DNA from three colossal creatures to unlock a drug with huge benefits for humanity. In a terrain populated by perils, they will make a shocking discovery that has been hidden for years.”

Jurassic World Rebirth is available to own or rent at home via participating retailers. The film will also release on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on September 9, 2025.
