Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Spin-off Movie Revealed

A new Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse spin-off is in development.

Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Verse franchise began in 2018 with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. That was followed by the 2023 sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, while a third movie, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is in the works and is dated for June 2027.

What do we know about the new Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse spin-off movie?

According to Deadline, a movie based on Daniel Kaluuya’s Spider-Punk character, who debuted in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, is now in early development.

The film will be co-written by Kaluuya and Ajon Singh. Plot details are being kept under wraps at this time. No other deals are in place, meaning it’s unclear if any other characters from the previous Spider-Verse movies will also show up.

Created by Dan Slott and Olivier Coipel, the Spider-Punk/Hobie Brown character made his Marvel Comics debut in 2015’s The Amazing Spider-Man #10. Residing on Earth-138, this version of Spider-Man is an anarchist who rocks a wicked electric guitar and lives to tear down corrupt systems, corporations, and governments.

No release date information is available at this time, though given the project is still in “early development,” it seems likely that it won’t arrive until after Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Beyond the Spider-Verse will build off the cliffhanger featured in Across the Spider-Verse. Shameik Moore’s Miles Morales/Spider-Man is now on Earth-42 and facing a seemingly evil version of himself (who, in this world, is also Prowler) voiced by Jahrrel Jerome. Also returning for Beyond the Spider-Verse are Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman, Jason Schwartzman as Dr. Johnathon Ohnn/The Spot, and Karan Soni as Pavitr Prabhakar/Spider-Man India.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse arrives in United States theaters on June 25, 2027. Into the Spider-Verse is currently available to watch on Fubo and FXNOW, while Across the Spider-Verse can be streamed on Disney+.
