Josh Brolin Says Weapons Could Be ‘Your Worst Nightmare Come True’
Weapons stars Josh Brolin and Julia Garner recently shared why they think the upcoming movie will be “terrifying” for audiences. Helmed by writer and director Zach Cregger, known for his 2022 horror hit Barbarian, the film features a star cast alongside Brolin and Garner, including Benedict Wong, Alden Ehrenreich, and many more.
Weapons stars explain why it’s both ‘scary’ and ’emotional’
Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, and Alden Ehrenreich recently sat down for a chat with Dexerto and revealed why they think Weapons will be intensely frightening for audiences.
The story of Weapons focuses on numerous children from the same class mysteriously going missing on the same night, sparking a fevered investigation.
Sharing his views on Weapons, Brolin said that the movie is “your worst nightmare come true.” He added, “Having four kids and imagining something like this happening… I can’t imagine anything worse. That’s why we have story – to put yourself in that position, then you get to release yourself from that position. Like a dream.” He further shared that Cregger’s script is an “emotional story.”
Garner stated that she was convinced that she wanted to portray the teacher at the center of the movie by “page five.” She agreed that the idea of children going missing is “scary” and said, “Sending your kid to school and they’re missing – that’s terrifying. I think just that is going to scare people.”
Ehrenreich asserted that the movie will allow audiences to be “emotionally involved” with the characters. According to the Star Wars actor, “when crazy stuff goes down for these people, it feels more like you’re inside of that world that it’s happening in.” Ehrenreich also shared that the movie feels like a Stephen King project and stated, “It’s a really unique tone. It’s not just a jump-scare movie. Although there are jump scares in it.”
