Denzel Washington Reunites With Spike Lee in Highest 2 Lowest Trailer

A24 has shared the official Highest 2 Lowest trailer for the upcoming neo-noir crime thriller from acclaimed filmmaker Spike Lee. Following its world premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, the movie is now slated to arrive in theaters on August 15. Afterward, it will be available for streaming on September 5 on Apple TV+.

“When a titan music mogul, widely known as having the ‘best ears in the business,’ is targeted with a ransom plot, he is jammed up in a life-or-death moral dilemma. Brothers Denzel Washington and Spike Lee reunite for the 5th in their long working relationship for a reinterpretation of the great filmmaker Akira Kurosawa’s crime thriller High and Low, now played out on the mean streets of modern day New York City,” reads the synopsis.

What happens in the Highest 2 Lowest trailer?

The video introduces Oscar winner Denzel Washington as a music executive who must negotiate with his son’s kidnapper in order to ensure that he’ll get him back safely. Joining Washington are Jeffrey Wright, Ilfenesh Hadera, A$AP Rocky, Dean Winters, John Douglas Thompson, and Ice Spice.

Highest 2 Lowest is directed and executive produced by Spike Lee from a screenplay written by William Alan Fox, loosely based on the 1959 novel King’s Random by Ed McBain. This marks the latest collaboration between Lee and Washington after previously working together on 1990’s Mo’ Better Blues, 1992’s Malcolm X, 1998’s He Got Game, and 2006’s Inside Man. Executive producers are Chris Brigham, Kana Idetsu Broadhurst, Peter Guber, Ko Kurosawa, Matthew Lindner, and Katia Washington.
