Matthew Modine reveals he wanted ‘to meet Godzilla’ in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova
While speaking with Collider‘s Maggie Lovitt, Modine noted that he signed up for Godzilla x Kong: Supernova so he could meet Godzilla. Speaking about his time working on the film, he stated, “That was pretty exciting. Oh, to work with Godzilla.” The actor also explained why sharing his scenes with a fictional creature didn’t feel like a problem to him.
“I was like, wait a minute, Godzilla is not here! I’m looking at Godzilla and King Kong as if they’re there. And when you go to drama school, there’s exercises you do where you come out, and you have to see things that aren’t there. So I was happy to pretend that Godzilla was there,” Modine noted. He then elaborated on his motivation behind joining the sequel’s cast by simply saying, “I did the movie because I wanted to meet Godzilla.”
According to a recent update, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova has already wrapped its filming in Australia and will now be moving to other locations for the next phase of production. Helmed by Grant Sputore, the Godzilla x Kong sequel will also feature Dan Stevens, reprising his role from the previous Godzilla x Kong film, alongside new cast members, including Sam Neil, Jack O’Connell, and Kaitlyn Dever, among others. The sixth entry in the MonsterVerse franchise will follow on from the events of 2024’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and is currently on track to hit theaters on March 26, 2027.
