Responding to a fan question on Threads, James Gunn stated, “Again everything you’ve heard is a total guess or made up,” in response to rumors about the DC Comics villain Hush appearing in the upcoming film The Batman Part 2.

The sequel to Matt Reeves’ 2022 The Batman remains in early pre-production. Gunn addressed rising speculation about new villains for Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight. Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin are still developing the script. They have not shared any official plot or casting details.

Warner Bros. plans to start principal photography for The Batman Part 2 in late 2025. The studio has set the release date for October 1, 2027. They confirmed the film will stay under DC’s “Elseworlds” banner, separate from the main DCU. It will continue the story from the first film and connect with HBO Max’s The Penguin series.

Rumors about villains such as Barry Keoghan’s Joker and Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb (The Penguin) have circulated since the first film’s release. Gunn clarified that none of the current rumors are based on confirmed information. Reeves has not made any statements about including Hush in the sequel.

This marks another instance of Gunn using social media to dispel misinformation. In the same thread, he dismissed separate claims about the Teen Titans lineup, stating, “Anything you’ve heard about that movie is made up or a guess. No one in the world knows anything about the concept for the story except four people.”
