Witchboard: Stranger Things Star Leads Horror Movie Remake’s Red Band Trailer

The Witchboard red band trailer for The Avenue’s upcoming supernatural horror thriller has been revealed, featuring Stranger Things star Jamie Campbell Bower as an occult expert named Alexander Babtiste. This serves as a remake of Kevin Tenney’s cult classic 1986 movie.

Following its world premiere at last year’s Fantasia International Film Festival, the movie is slated to arrive in theaters on August 15, 2025. At the moment, it currently holds a Tomatometer rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on six reviews.

What happens in the Witchboard red band trailer?

The video features a young couple who unknowingly unleash a vengeful witch after uncovering an ancient cursed artifact. This leads them into a deadly spiral of possession, temptation, and occult terror, as they try to enlist the help of Bower’s character. However, they soon realize that they might have put their trust in the wrong person, as they fight for Emily’s soul.

Witchboard is directed by Chuck Russell, who co-wrote the screenplay with Greg McKay. Joining Bower are Madison Iseman, Aaron Dominguez, Mel Jarnson, Charlie Tahan, and Antonia Desplat. The R-rated movie currently has a runtime of 112 minutes or an hour and 52 minutes. It is executive produced by Sarah Buxton, John Paul Isham, Walter Josten, Yannick Sadler, and Eric Schiermeyer.

“In New Orleans, Emily and her fiancé Christian are opening their new dream café. But their dreams are dashed when Emily finds an ancient, cursed Witchboard, an ancient artifact that once served as a gateway to the spirit world. As Emily becomes increasingly captivated by the board’s ability to summon spirits, Christian seeks the expertise of Alexander Babtiste, an enigmatic occult scholar. As Emily’s grip on reality weakens, Babtiste’s true intentions come to light—to use the Witchboard’s dark power for his own twisted purposes,” reads the official synopsis.
