Blade & Deadpool 4 Get Disappointing Updates

Marvel Studios’ long-delayed Blade movie has received another release date update, along with the potential next installment to Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool franchise. This comes after it was recently rumored that the studio might be planning a 2026 production start for the Mahershala Ali-led project.

What is the latest news on Blade and Deadpool 4?

According to Variety, Marvel Studios is reportedly not rushing the development of its long-awaited Blade reboot and potential Deadpool 4. The outlet’s sources claimed that this is might be part of the studio’s efforts to scale back on the superhero projects they’re releasing. This seemingly means that fans may have to wait much longer for Ali to star in his own MCU movie, and for Reynolds’ return as the fan-favorite anti-hero.

Following the box office success of last year’s Deadpool and Wolverine, Marvel Studios president previously confirmed that he indeed had several discussions with Reynolds and Hugh Jackman about their characters’ potential future in the MCU. At the moment, it’s still unclear when Reynolds’ Deadpool and Jackman’s Wolverine will appear again.

As for Blade, the project has no official director or release date attached to it yet. It has been in the development phase for over six years now. Directors Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange were previously attached to the movie, along with writers Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Beau DeMayo, Michael Starrbury, Michael Green, and Eric Pearson. Since the movie has gone through multiple delays, it’s still unclear if Mia Goth and Milan Ray remain part of the cast after it was confirmed that Aaron Pierre and Delroy Lindo had already exited the project.
