Margot Robbie Reveals Personal Connection to New Fantasy Movie

Academy Award nominee Margot Robbie has opened up about her character in Sony Pictures‘ upcoming A Big Bold Beautiful Journey movie. The romantic fantasy is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 19, 2025.

Why Margot Robbie connected with her character in A Big Bold Beautiful Journey?

During a recent interview with Empire, Robbie admitted that out of all the memorable characters she previously played in the past, she definitely felt more closer to her character Sarah in A Big Bold Beautiful Journey. This marks the first time that Robbie will be playing a character like Sarah in a long while, especially after being known for playing larger than life characters like Harley Quinn and Barbie in the recent years.

“I saw a lot of things in Sarah, that I could see in myself — not necessarily good things,” Robbie said. “And so maybe it was a little more exposing to play a character like Sarah.”

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is directed and executive produced by Kogonada from a screenplay written by The Menu’s Seth Reiss. The film is described as “an imaginative tale of two strangers and the emotional journey that connects them.” It is produced by Reiss and Youree Henly along with Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas, and Ryan Friedkin for Imperative Entertainment. Ilene Feldman and Ori Eisen are executive producers.
