Spider-Man 4: New Update for Tom Holland MCU Movie Is Very Good News
Spider-Man: Brand New Day, also known as Spider-Man 4, has received a big production update.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be the next MCU film following the recent release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Arriving in just a little over one year, the movie will see Tom Holland once again reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
What is the Spider-Man 4 update?
Per The Glasgow Times on X, Spider-Man 4 will officially begin production this week.
“Streets in the city centre have started being transformed ahead of filming for the next Spider-Man blockbuster,” the outlet reports. “Cameras are set to begin rolling in Glasgow on August 1, and some areas have started to receive a makeover.”
Plot details for Spider-Man: Brand New Day remain largely under wraps at this time; however, it is known that Jon Bernthal’s Punisher will appear in the movie. Additionally, Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink and The Bear’s Liza Colón-Zayas have been cast in undisclosed roles, while Zendaya and Jacob Batalon will return as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson and Ned Leeds.
Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige recently said of the movie, “I think there’s a promise at the end of No Way Home that, for as sad as it is, that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life. We are seeing, for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories, him being a proper Spider-Man. Him being, by himself, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with—for lack of a better term—street-level crime as opposed to world-ending events that he faced when working with the other characters.
“So when you do that, you say, ‘OK, who are the other street-level characters that we’ve never seen him interact with?’ And of course, I love that the Punisher started in a Spider-Man comic, and that great cover . . . I don’t wanna say too much, but I will say too much. [Director Destin Daniel Cretton] is doing an amazing job right now on that movie. It starts shooting very soon, and he’s got 8 or 9 comic covers up on his wall in his art department that he is bringing to life in this movie. It’s super cool.
