X-Men & Fantastic Four’s Major Role in Avengers: Doomsday Plot Teased

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige recently teased a meeting between the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four at the Baxter Building in Avengers: Doomsday. Following the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel’s first family will appear next in Doomsday. Starring Robert Downey Jr as the main antagonist, Doctor Doom, Doomsday is set to arrive in theaters in December 2026.

X-Men or the Avengers could visit Fantastic Four’s Baxter Building in Doomsday

With the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Kevin Feige shared some insights regarding the plot of Avengers: Doomsday with Marvel.com. As the Fantastic Four are joining the Avengers and X-Men in Avengers: Doomsday, Feige revealed how the three teams would have a meeting at the Baxter Building. The Baxter Building is the residence and HQ of the Fantastic Four, which was featured in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Feige shared that Doomsday is “introducing people to each other and seeing how very different personalities get along.” He added, “In the case of a movie that involves the threat of worlds literally colliding, it’s fun to see them visit each other’s homes.”

Feige continued, “So with the Baxter Building set, let’s say it had four or five people in it at most in the Fantastic Four movie. And it’s got a heck of a lot more people in it [in Doomsday]. It’s a thrill to see that interaction.” He further described the experience of seeing everyone interacting with each other as “surreal.”

The Marvel head also shared his thoughts on working with some of the most iconic X-Men characters in Avengers: Doomsday. He stated, “It was another dream that we just didn’t think about for many years. Deadpool & Wolverine scratched the surface of that. And now, we’re really delving into it with Doomsday.”

Avengers: Doomsday will have superheroes from across the MCU come together and face Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. The Russo Brothers are directing Doomsday.
