Eddington Star Micheal Ward Charged With Rape, Police Issue Statement

Eddington star Micheal Ward has been charged with rape and sexual assault.

Ward, who is 27, has been charged with two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault by the Metropolitan Police. The offenses relate to one woman and reportedly took place in January 2023.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ward will appear at Thames Magistrates Court in London on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

What does the police statement say about the Micheal Ward charges?

“Our specialist officers continue to support the woman who has come forward,” said Scott Ware, a detective superintendent whose team is leading the Met’s investigation. “We know investigations of this nature can have a significant impact on those who make reports.

Catherine Baccas, deputy chief crown prosecutor for CPS London South, added, “Having carefully reviewed a file of evidence, the Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Micheal Ward, 27, with two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault against a woman in January 2023.

“We remind all concerned that proceedings against the suspect are active and he has a right to a fair trial…It is vital that there should be no reporting, commentary, or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”

According to Deadline, Ward has been dropped by UK agency Olivia Bell Management. The publication’s article reads. “When Deadline contacted the agency on Friday, an employee said: ‘We no longer represent him.’ His U.S. agent is CAA.”

Ward has starred in projects such as 2016’s Brotherhood, 2019’s Blue Story, 2020’s The Old Guard, 2020’s Small Axe: Lovers Rock, 2022’s Empire of Light, 2023’s The Book of Clarence, 2024’s Bob Marley: One Love, and more. He most recently appeared in Ari Aster’s Eddington, which also stars Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, and Emma Stone.
