Wonder Woman: New Details Emerge on Who Could Be DCU’s Diana Prince

The DCU Wonder Woman movie has received a casting update.

Following the success of James Gunn’s Superman movie, Wonder Woman is now said to be a priority at Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios. No director has yet been hired to helm the project, and the movie does not have a release date at this time; however, it is known that Ana Nogueira is currently working on the script.

Recently, there was a rumor floating around that DC was looking for “an actress with a TV-centric resume akin to Supergirl’s Milly Alcock” to play Diana Prince.

Gunn discredited this, saying, “Nope. And I’d never in a million years look for a major role based on whether they did TV, films, or whatever. It’s all about the casting. I didn’t cast Milly because of her past, but because she was the best one for the role. (But we’re also not casting WW, nor even discussing it, until a script is finished).”

What is the latest Wonder Woman update?

While the Wonder Woman script is still being written, DC Studios will reportedly be looking for an “unknown” to play Diana Prince, according to Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider.

“While he could certainly decide to cast a rising star like Adria Arjona (the actress most often fancast in the role), my sources believe Gunn will do a global search for an unknown who looks Mediterranean and has dark features (sorry, Elizabeth Debicki fans),” Sneider reports.

Further details are not available at this time.

There is another Wonder Woman project in development beyond the movie: a television series titled Paradise Lost, though this will be set before Diana’s birth. Paradise Lost also does not have a release date at this time.

Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU officially kicked off in December 2024 with the animated Creature Commandos series. Following Superman, the DCU continues next month with Peacemaker Season 2, while the Lanterns television show, Clayface, and Supergirl are all scheduled to arrive in 2026.
