Fantastic Four Could Make More Money Than 2015 Movie’s Total Gross in Just 1 Weekend
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is looking to have a very strong opening weekend at the box office.
Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps finally arrives in theaters this coming weekend. Directed by Matt Shakman, the movie stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.
How much is Fantastic Four expected to make at the box office?
According to Deadline, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is currently tracking to make around $190 million to $210 million worldwide during its opening weekend. Around $100 million to $110 million is expected to come from the United States and Canada.
This is on par with how James Gunn’s Superman did, as that DCU movie made $220 million worldwide during its opening weekend, $125 million of which came from the United States and Canada.
Compared to other Fantastic Four movies, First Steps will likely make more in its opening weekend than the Josh Trank movie did during its entire box office run. Released in August 2015, that film — which stars Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell — only conjured up around $167.9 million.
The synopsis for the MCU movie reads, “Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.”
