Vin Diesel Gives Exciting & Confusing Groot MCU Update

Vin Diesel shared an update about a Groot sequel centered around his MCU character, only to delete the message later on.

What did Vin Diesel say about Groot’s MCU future?

On his Instagram, Diesel shared that he finished work on a Groot sequel for Disney.

“So much to be excited about… Finally finished the Groot sequel for our friends at Disney… The Arbor King,” Diesel wrote in the caption. “You all know the other films in process or upcoming, but something about the continuation of that beloved floral colossus just feels different.”

Diesel later edited the caption to remove the reference to Groot.

This isn’t the first time Diesel has teased Groot-focused projects on his Instagram. In March, Diesel posted that Disney wants their “Planet X.” This is the film where Groot returns to his home planet.

Diesel first voiced Groot in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Groot is an anthropomorphic, tree-like extraterrestrial creature who communicates predominantly through one phrase: “I am Groot.”

Diesel would go on to voice Groot in five more MCU movies: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

In 2022, Diesel voiced Baby Groot in the Disney+ series I Am Groot. The show explored the escapades of Baby Groot as he grows up, embarks on adventures, and gets into trouble. The show was presented as a series of animated shorts spread across two seasons. Season 1 premiered in August 2022, while Season 2 arrived one year later in September 2023.

Diesel also voiced Groot in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

While Diesel has been the main source of information for Groot’s future, Marvel has not announced the character’s inclusion in any future projects, including Avengers: Doomsday.
