A newly released trailer for Ne Zha 2 has revealed the first official look at A24’s English dub of the Chinese animated sequel. Highlighting vibrant action sequences, updated voice performances, and expanded scenes with Michelle Yeoh’s Lady Yin, the footage teases the U.S. theatrical release of the record-breaking fantasy epic.
Ne Zha 2 gets new English dub trailer
A24 has released the English dub trailer for Ne Zha 2, which will arrive in U.S. theaters on August 22.
The English-language version features Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh as Lady Yin, Ne Zha’s mother. This release marks the first collaboration between A24 and CMC Pictures, the original Chinese distributor.
The trailer includes expanded scenes highlighting Lady Yin, with Yeoh delivering lines like “Immortal or demon, you are my son. You must be brave and walk your own path.” It concludes with a comedic moment where she says, “Wait! Before you leave, will you give your mama one last big hug?” Ne Zha replies, “Come on, they’re all watching!” as the crowd reacts.
Directed by Yang Yu (Jiaozi), Ne Zha 2 is a sequel to the 2019 film Ne Zha. The story continues with Ne Zha and Ao Bing reborn as spirits, undergoing trials to regain their mortal forms. The plot is based on Chinese mythology and the 16th-century novel Investiture of the Gods.
The English dub cast includes Vincent Rodriguez III as Li Jing, Aleks Le as Ao Bing, Crystal Lee, and Damien Haas. Michelle Yeoh replaces Stephanie Sheh in the role of Lady Yin. Yeoh stated, “I’m honored to be part of Ne Zha 2… Sharing this with audiences in English is such a joy” (via Deadline).
Ne Zha 2 earned $2.2 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing animated and non-English language film ever, and the fifth highest-grossing film overall. The film will screen in IMAX, 3D, and other premium formats in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
