The extended clip showcases the team’s retro-futuristic origin story and features several notable cameos, a brief encounter with a Super-Ape, and nods to earlier Fantastic Four adaptations.
The footage includes Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) presenting “Fantastic Science with Mr. Fantastic” to a classroom of disinterested children. Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) use their powers to protect New York City in the opening scenes. In a stylized moment, The Thing delivers his iconic line, “It’s Clobberin’ Time,” in cartoon form.
One action sequence features a clash with one of Red Ghost’s Super-Apes. Although the character appears, John Malkovich’s Red Ghost does not, as editors removed him from the final cut.
The clip also features cameos from Alex Hyde-White, Rebecca Staab, Jay Underwood, and Michael Bailey Smith, who portrayed the team in Roger Corman’s unreleased 1990s Fantastic Four film.
Directed by Matt Shakman, the film is set in a 1960s-inspired world and follows the titular team as they face Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his Herald, the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). Supporting cast includes Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne, and Sarah Niles. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also appeared at the premiere as Simon Williams/Wonder Man.
Marvel Studios will release The Fantastic Four: First Steps in theaters on July 25, 2025. Projections estimate it will earn $125 million to $145 in its US opening weekend.
