Clayface: DCU Movie Cast Eyes Star Wars Actress as Female Lead

Naomi Ackie is being eyed to star in the Clayface movie.

Clayface is a forthcoming DCU flick that is being directed by James Watkins. Written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, the film will star Tom Rhys Harries as the titular Batman villain. Whether or not Batman actually shows up in the movie remains to be seen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ackie is in “early talks” to star in Clayface. The article states, “Reading sessions took place in England last week with Ackie emerging as the choice. Formal negotiations are due to begin this week, according to several sources.”

It is not clear who Ackie is being eyed to play at this time.

Ackie played Bonnie in The End of the F***ing World and Alicia in Master of None. Her filmography includes 2016’s Lady Macbeth, 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, 2022’s I Wanna Dance with Somebody, 2024’s Blink Twice, 2025’s Mickey 17, and 2025’s Sorry, Babe. She’ll soon be seen in The Thursday Murder Club, which arrives on Netflix next month.

What else do we know about Clayface?

The Hollywood Reporter’s article says of the movie’s plot, “Clayface, which sources have said will have a budget in the mid-$40 million range, centers on [an] ascending actor whose face is disfigured by a gangster. As a last resort, the actor turns to a fringe Elizabeth Holmes-style scientist for help. At first, the experiment is a [success], but … well, it wouldn’t be a horror movie if the story ended right there, would it?”

Production on Clayface is expected to begin in the coming months. James Gunn, who is producing the movie, has previously said the movie will be rated R. Other producers include Lynn Harris, Peter Safran, and Matt Reeves.

Clayface arrives in United States theaters on September 11, 2026, from Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios.
