Superman: Krypto & Mister Terrific Deleted Scene Hinted by Set Video & Photos
Footage of a deleted scene from Superman, implying Krypto injuring Edi Gathegi’s Mister Terrific, has resurfaced online. While the scene didn’t make it to the theatrical version of the movie, it nonetheless underscores certain aspects of the super canine.
Krypto injured Mister Terrific in Superman’s cut scenes
A Superman set video originally shared in June 2024 teases a deleted scene featuring Krypto and Michael Holt / Mister Terrific. While the video comes without a context, it’s probably safe to presume that the Justice Gang member is attempting to convince Supergirl’s dog to follow him in the scene. Hilariously, things apparently go wrong, and Mister Terrific seemingly gets injured by Krypto’s heat vision.

@DCUPRIMETV, the X (formerly Twitter) account that released the above video, also put out several set photos, a couple of which show the scene that eventually appeared in the post-credits of the movie. In one of these photos, Mister Terrific appears to have a bloodied bandage on his foot, likely referring to the injury he sustained during his encounter with Krypto.
Gathegi appeared to indicate that the above-mentioned scene wasn’t initially meant to appear in post-credits. “That was originally in the movie. I wasn’t there for the decision making, but to me, it’s exciting because that’s a promise,” the actor said.
Gunn and his collaborators created Krypto using motion capture, with Gunn’s own dog Ozu serving as a primary inspiration. So, understandably, the dog doesn’t appear in the video and would have probably been added if the scene had made it to the screen. However, it was left behind on the cutting room floor.
In various interviews, Gunn has referred to Krypto as the “worst dog in the world” and offered details on how he drew from his experience with Ozu to create this version of the character. Interestingly, according to recent reports, Krypto has inspired a spike in Google searches of the phrase, “Adopt a Dog Near Me” (via IGN).
Superman is currently playing in theaters.
