Superman’s Edi Gathegi Explains What Post-Credits Scene Means for Future
Edi Gathegi, who plays Michael Holt / Mister Terrific in the DCU feature Superman, said in a recent interview that the post-credits scene of the movie seemed like a “promise” to him about his character’s future in the franchise. Notably, this isn’t the first time that Gathegi has appeared in a superhero movie. He previously essayed the role of Armando Muñoz / Darwin in X-Men: First Class. Even though his Marvel character has the power of reactive evolution in the comics and can potentially survive anything, Darwin was killed in the movie.

Edi Gathegi explains how Superman’s post-credits scene teases Mister Terrific’s DCU future
During an interview with Variety, Gathegi reflected on how the Superman post-credits scene felt like a “promise” about his future involvement in the DC Universe and how different it was from his brief association with the X-Men film series.
When asked how the end-credits scene came together, Gathegi said, “That was originally in the movie. I wasn’t there for the decision making, but to me, it’s exciting because that’s a promise. I don’t know if it’s a promise that DC is intending to make, but to have that moment at the very end of the movie, for me personally, is the full circle moment of me being unceremoniously killed before the big battle in X-Men: First Class to be kind of the last man standing.”
In the Superman post-credits scene, Mister Terrific appears alongside David Corenswet’s Superman as they work together to fix the broken buildings in Metropolis in the aftermath of the movie’s climax. When Superman remarks that two parts of a recently fixed property don’t particularly align, it annoys Terrific, who walks off. This leads Superman to admit that he can be “such a jerk sometimes.”
During the interview, Gathegi revealed that he found out about the post-credits scene on the day of the movie’s premiere through a message from Superman director and DCU co-head James Gunn. The For All Mankind actor also clarified that while he had signed a multi-project deal with DC Studios, he didn’t know much about the specifics.
Superman is currently in theaters.
