Donald Trump Photoshopped on Superman Poster by Official White House Account
The White House is throwing more fuel into the “immigrant” comment controversy by releasing a photoshopped Superman poster.
Earlier this week, a comment made by James Gunn went viral when the Superman writer and director said the new DCU movie “is the story of America. An immigrant that came from other places and populated the country, but for me it is mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost.”
When asked if he thinks the movie will be received differently in red states versus blue states, Gunn said, “Yes, it plays differently. But it’s about human kindness and obviously there will be jerks out there who are just not kind and will take it as offensive just because it is about kindness. But screw them.”
This led Fox News to dub the movie “Superwoke,” while Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman actor Dean Cain also recently spoke out against the movie’s immigrant themes.
What did the White House say about the photoshopped Superman poster?
The official White House account has now tweeted a photoshopped version of the movie’s poster that replaces David Corenswet with Donald Trump. The post includes the phrase “truth, justice, and the American way,” which has been altered to “truth, justice, and the human way” in Gunn’s movie.

Gunn told Variety earlier this week that he doesn’t have “anything to say to anybody” who is spreading negativity about Superman. He added, “I think this is a movie about kindness, and I think that’s something everyone can relate to.”
James’ brother Sean Gunn, who plays Maxwell Lord in the DCU, also said, “Yes, Superman is an immigrant, and yes, the people that we support in this country are immigrants, and if you don’t like that, you’re not American. People who say no to immigrants are against the American way.”
