Michael Madsen Passes Away, Reservoir Dogs Actor Was 67

Michael Madsen has passed away. The Reservoir Dogs was 67.

In addition to playing Vic Vega in 1992’s Reservoir Dogs, Madsen starred in a number of other Quentin Tarantino movies, including Kill Bill, The Hateful Eight, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

According to NBC Los Angeles, Madsen passed away early this morning after he was found unconscious in his Malibu home.

“Madsen was pronounced dead at the home,” the article states. “The death is believed to have been from natural causes and no foul play is suspected, the sheriff’s department said. In an email, manager Ron Smith confirmed Madsen died from cardiac arrest.”

Smith, manager Susan Ferris, and publicist Liz Rodriguez said in a joint statement, “In the last two years Michael Madsen has been doing some incredible work with independent film including upcoming feature films Resurrection Road, Concessions, and Cookbook for Southern Housewives, and was really looking forward to this next chapter in his life. Michael was also preparing to release a new book called Tears For My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems, currently being edited. Michael Madsen was one of Hollywood’s most iconic actors, who will be missed by many.”

Madsen started professionally acting in Hollywood in the nearly 1980s. He had a notable role as Lieutenant Steve Phelps in 1983’s WarGames and then went on to star in movies such as 1984’s The Natural, 1989’s Kill Me Again, 1991’s Thelma & Louis, and more.

He quickly became a household name following Reservoir Dogs. Following that movie’s release, he appeared in 1993’s Free Willy, 1994’s Wyatt Earp, 1997’s Donnie Brasco, 2002’s Die Another Day, 2005’s Sin City, 2006’s Scary Movie 4, 2008’s Vice, and many other titles. He additionally voiced Maugrim in 2005’s The Chronicles of Narnia.
