F1 2: Brad Pitt Sequel Gets Update Following Strong Opening Box Office

Less than a week since the theatrical release of F1, an update for a potential F1 2 movie has finally been revealed. This comes after the Brad Pitt-led sports drama debuted with a strong opening box office performance. At the moment, it has already earned worldwide gross of over $165 million against a reported budget of around $200-300 million.

What is the F1 2 update?

According to a new report, development on the potential sequel to F1 may have already started in response to the positive reception that the movie has been receiving so far. It currently holds Certified Fresh rating of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. This report comes after director Joseph Kosinski recently addressed the possibility of F1 2, as he opened up about the movie’s mid-credits scene.

“That’s up for the audience to decide. I think we leave it on a really open-ended moment for Sonny, for Kate [played by Kerry Condon], and for Joshua,” Kosinski said in a previous interview. “So yeah, I think there’s certainly more to tell of the APXGP team, and where Sonny Hayes goes from here. But that’s not my decision.”

F1 was directed by Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski from a screenplay written by Ehren Kruger. Joining Pitt are Damson Idris as Joshua Pearce, Kerry Condon as Kate, Tobias Menzies as Banning, Kim Bodnia as Kaspar, Shea Whigham as Chip, Sarah Niles as Bernadette, and more. The movie also features appearances from real-life Formula One racers, including producer Lewis Hamilton, Carlos Sainz Jr. and more. Kosinski and Pitt are also producing alongside Jerry Bruckheimer, Hamilton, Jeremy Kleiner, Dede Gardner, and Chad Omen, with Daniel Lupi serving as an executive producer.
